Create shortcut to mpserver.exe on the Desktop.5. Log in to your home router's control panel. If you don't know what the password is, look at the various labels on the device. There should be one with at least a password, possibly a username as well.6. Find the 'Port Forwarding' page or section. Might be under 'Security' (it is for my router) or might be somewhere else.7.
Look at the mpserver.exe window. See what IP address it says there. That's your local / private IP address. Not the one you connect over the internet with.8.
In your home router's control panel, set up a port forwarding rule to forward port range 4321-4322 to/from your computer's private / local IP address from/to your public IP address, which is the one you actually use on the internet rather than just on your home / local private network. You computer's local / private IP address will be shown in mpserver.exe.When setting up the port forwarding rule, please choose to forward both TCP and UDP connections, not just one or the either.9. As for me I'm using a more simple method which doesn't requires anything. Plus, everything based on a new version of the game which includes the widescreen resolution.1) After you installed the game, go to the game folder and run 'tcpserver.exe'. If you have a dynamic IP address, just use software like Tunngle or Hamachi to make a virtual local connection with your friend.2) When you launched the server, it will show you your IP address.
Write down or just remember the numbers.3) Run the game in multiplayer mode (not an old legacy version, but you can try to use it as well if you love it), select 'New Game - Multiplayer', enter the IP address of your local server and enter your nickname. Don't forget to tell the IP address to your friend. That's all!The cool thing is that you can save your game when you're playing in coop mode as well as in single player mode. The bad thing is that you can't hear the sounds except main characters voices. If you know the fix or even if you have the same problem, let me know! Originally posted by:This is a very long way to play together with your friends.

Also, should ensure a better connection as it's peer to peer and doesn't need a 3rd party server for discovery or negotiating the connection.Or do you mean that tcpserver.exe is public IP address aware? I haven't tried using that one.
I only used mpserver.exe as I managed to get the game working with that one and using port forwarding so I didn't bother trying with tcpserver.exe as well.I only said to first launch legacy version because that's the one in the directory where mpserver.exe is. So it will enable people to find the the folder where that executable resides using Task Manager = Go to processes = Open File Location.Later on down the checklist I say launch the multiplayer version.
