The track appears to be recording as a blank grey track with no midi events and when I hit the stop button on the transport strip the track just disappears.I’m now wondering if perhaps Cubase itself is corrupted and perhaps I need to re-install it as well. I’ve spent tens of hours on this problem without any success.Using iMac O/S 10.7.5Thanks.

You’ve reinstalled already This often is not necessary, But many feel this is the thing to do. Mostly if something is wrong there are systematic ways to check and troubleshoot the installation. If a reinstall was necessary you would know it if/when you go through the proper checklist. We need just a little more information from you on the version and build of the Cubase AI you are running. No mention is made of the required driver, please provide its version number as well. Also make sure you get the Remote Tools and Editor. In the meantime here are some things to check:On your Mac:Go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES OTHERS YAMAHA STEINBERG USB double clickWhat does your computer report? On your MOX:Press UTILITYPress F5 USB I/OPress SF1 OUT CHWhat does your MOX report? Moxman58 - 20 September 2013 02:12 PMSorry- I forgot to respond to all of your questions.I have the latest drivers YUSB is 1.8.0,VST Editor is 1.6.0and Remote Tools 1.1.3I can open VST Editor in Cubaseand DAW remote works when I hit DAW remote on the MOXsorry you’ve got the wrong driver or you’ve got a typo.Yamaha Steinberg USB is the driver 1.7.2 is the latest version for Macintosh. As far as I knowI’ve never heard of YUSB 1.8.0???? What is that? Certainly not for the MOX, at any rate.
Total Posts: 14Joined status: RegularThanks for your help.I think I have found the problem. Although I have registered my Cubase AI 6 with Steinberg, my e-license page shows I have both a registered full version of AI6 and an expired version. My DAW now opens up as Cubase LE AI Elements 6 and now I realize that you can’t use VST instruments in the LE version. Somewhere along the way I’ve screwed up when registering my license and must have dupicated the install or something?I have tried everything I can to fix the license but cannot delete the expired version from mye-licenser page.
I have requested support from Steinberg on this issue and sent them a copy of my e-licenser file text. Hopefully they will have a solution for me soon, but as it’s the weekend I may have to wait for help. Total Posts: 14Joined status: RegularHey Bad Mister,Thanks for staying with me on this one! Much appreciated. I’m fairly new to the Mac environment and still not that familiar with it’s way of saving files. When I hover on the Cubase App icon in the dock it shows Cubase LE AI Elements 6, when I start the app the program opens Project Assistant, it shows files will be saved to User/ Cubase LE AI Elements Projects / Songs as the default location. But, when I actually start the app proper using, say an empty project, the header of the app window shows Cubase AI with no mention of the LE or Elements in the header.
Just as you mentioned, this seems to indicate that it recognizes I have a licence for AI.I don’t know much about Cubase program and there are so many manuals to read for it and the MOX /VST Editor/Remote Editor features etc. When I first got the MOX and installed all the additional software, I could record the MOX to Cubase with no issues.
I guess it was good for one month from 16 June to 16 July then I got nowhere with it after that. Then yesterday I saw the expired licences in E-licenser and just assumed that was the issue?Every time I re-read the VST editor manual, reset all the MOX utilities to factory reset and then set everything to the Utility setting in the manual, I keep getting “port open error messages” and “ports in host application have not been properly set” in VST editor. I understood that VST editor would automatically set up the correct ports in Cubase but I’m stuck figuring out exactly what ports are needed and how to allocate them.In “VSTi setup” window the MOX/6 USB indicates using Audio Return Ports MOX/6 are 3& 4 Mox/6 in DAW 1.“In Setup” USB shows USB ports 1 & 4 as MOX6/8! Errors.Really struggling with getting my head around this whole thing.OuchSteve. Things like setting up automatically and all that really depend on this (and you having installed the Extensions which are apart of the Remote Tools). If you click on a Cubase File (rather than the Application icon) you may have your computer set to attempt to open this with something else but unless you have changed this it should open AI. Please launch and select “AI”, you will be and should be totally confident as to which of the three you launched.Did you install the REMOTE TOOLS?And last I communicated with you, you did not have the correct driver.
It will not automatically connect with the wrong driver. Did you verify the correct driver?Let us know. Total Posts: 14Joined status: RegularWell - the driver I had was Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver 1.8.0 off the Yamaha Pro Audio website which still seems to be there today and is marked as dated July 2013, but I deleted it after you said it was incorrect and reverted back to 1.7.2. It seems to have made no difference. Like I said I have everything I’m supposed to have - Remote Editor/VST Editor and all the Extensions and still nothing happens.
I have the USB Midi Driver 1.3.2The Cubase version I have in applications is Cubase LE AI Elements 6, the Mac dock icon says the same but the main Cubase header bar when I open it says AI - which is good maybe? Not sure what else I could do now except maybe wish I’d bought a Korg!I’ve had Cubase with other Yamaha devices in the past and it was a total PITA to set up and this seems to be no different. I really only bought it because it had the Audio card built in but I’ve had better results with Reason 6/Ableton Live the Saffire Pro 40 A/D interface and my Novation SL Mk2. I just wanted a self-contained keyboard for backing tracks so I didn’t have to take all the other crap on the stage. Not sure what else I can do after 6-7 weeks of messing with this thing.
