Games that are big on video and audio content usually can't be compressed much. These type of content on PSP usually come already compressed on the original iso. Also on my tests CSOs on PSP Go performs really well. For a long while PSP Go was my only PSP. My original 2k was stuffed in a drawer because I had no charger for it.
A year ago I got a charger and for the heck of it I put some game on it. It was using a 32 gb original Sony Memory Stick. Anyway, I noticed some stutters on 2 games that I was playing. Ghost of Sparta and Ridge Racer.
GoW was having micro stutters on loading areas while Ridge Racer was having them constantly with intervals of 5 or so seconds. I put the games on my Go that was running on same og firmware, cfw and same plugins. None of those problems happened on PSP Go. Then put the same games in iso format on the 2k. No problems there too. I wouldn't use csos if not for having a PSP Go. Now maybe that problem happened on my memory card, a faster memory card or sd card might not have that issue, I don't know.
But I didn't stop there. I converted the games to dax format, then installed lme on the 2k. They performed without problem there too.Well this turned out to be a long post but those were my experiences with space saving options. I fully support cso. They perform great on ppsspp, Vita and PSP Go. Not so much on my 2k, dunno about the other models. Which compression tool you mean?
I've tried a few, but the one I like best is. I don't think the tool mattes though. There's one game that I just could not get working compressed and that is Velocity. It's a small game (207MB) so it doesn't really matter.For the most part compressed games work fine, it just takes longer for them to load and as you've noted, sometimes streamed content like cutscenes gets choppy. I've also read that certain games that rely heavily on data being streamed, like racing games can have issues, but I've not really bothered with compression that much, as I have space enough on my SD cards.
